Administrative Officer (Part-time)
 

Salary: £19,945 – 22,462 (pro rata)
20 hours per week (afternoons)
(Monday to Thursday 1.00pm – 5.00pm, Friday 12noon – 4.00pm)


Uckfield Town is located within the heart of Wealden District close to Ashdown Forest AONB, the South Downs National Park and has good transport links to London by rail, and bus services between Brighton, Eastbourne, East Grinstead and Tunbridge Wells.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an ambitious organisation with a wide ranging asset portfolio and great range of projects for delivery. The Town Council has responsibility for a wide range of buildings including the Civic Centre and Foresters Hall, as well as play areas, open spaces and Snatts Road Cemetery.

As Administrative Officer, you would be the first port of call for enquiries in our Town Council office, and if not able to assist, be able to signpost to the relevant person or authority.

The role will provide administrative support to a number of the Town Council’s statutory functions and be required to handle booking enquiries for our rooms, sports pitches and events, and issue invoices to hirers and tenants.

This role will also support the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Uckfield Town Council with managing invitations, and their calendar of civic duties and events.

Reporting to the Assistant Town Clerk, you will have substantial experience of working with the public and in customer service, have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to establish and maintain good working relationships with elected members, customers, and fellow staff.

The role is on a part-time, permanent basis, for 20 hours per week.

Senior Administrative Officer (Full-time)

Salary: £24,313 to £26,317
37 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

The Town Council has responsibility for a wide range of buildings including the Civic Centre and Foresters Hall, as well as a number of open spaces, nature reserves, open spaces and Snatts Road Cemetery.

As Senior Administrative Officer, you will have specific responsibility for clerking the Town Council’s Environment & Leisure Committee, and be the first point of contact for all related enquiries and assist our Estates & Facilities Manager with the delivery of projects associated with the committee.

The role will lead on the administrative support given to a number of the Town Council’s statutory functions such as the management of the Town Council’s allotments, and the management of Snatts Road Cemetery and associated burial and memorial administration, and records management.

This is a varied role. Reporting to the Assistant Town Clerk, you will have experience of working in local government or the public sector, demonstrate experience of committee administration and working with elected members or board members, to provide advice on meeting protocol and procedures, present excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to handle sensitive information and circumstances when dealing with matters such as burial enquiries.

The role is full time (37 hours per week) on a permanent contract with the Town Council.
